I finally finished this book!!
It's not a slow book, I was being extra slow this time.
So, overall this book is actually good. The story is good, it's easy to read, the characters are alright, there's nothing too crazy going on. The ending was not what I expected, but thats the whole point of a murder mystery isn't it? Either way, the book was a lot of fun to read, and I think I will buy the authors other books.
However, a few things bothered me. First of all, it took me until the end of the book to realise the author was writing about himself. I had not remembered his name and discovered it by accident. That part just isn't a lot of fun because it feels a bit weird and theres no real character personality or development, there is just the author talking about himself basically.
Another thing that bothered me is that the book starts with a crime which is perfect for the genre, but it takes 250 out of 390 pages to actually get the investigation going and for the book to pick up some speed. It didn't really move at all in the first 250 pages which I think is quite late to get the story started especially with an ending that moves as quickly as this one did as well. It wasn't at all what I expected and could be a bit boring at times.
The whole book was good overall, but the ending kind of disappointed me slightly. It was such a long reach and it felt jumbled up and quick compared to the very veryyyyy detailed beginning. It was a bit of a let down but it was still better than a lot of other books I've read!
